| I am a UK based pianist who specialises in mellow jazz piano. My involvement in the contemporary & jazz music scene includes performing as a solo jazz pianist, in jazz trios, duos, quartets and bands. Some people would describe me as a jazz pianist while others would say that I verge on being a cocktail pianist, or lounge pianist. What is for sure, is that I am no modernist – my main influences being jazz pianists like: George Shearing, Oscar Peterson, Monty Alexander and Dudley Moore. I play music by Cole Porter, George Gershwin, Jerome Kern, Burt Bacharach and all the other great writers of melodic standards. People hire me for quite a lot of cocktail parties, and the music I play seems ideal for that sort of thing, but if you do need something a little more exciting - I can usually accommodate. If you would like to hear me play; you will find free MP3s of me on my site. My work takes me throughout the UK and abroad. I have, at one time or another, worked in the main London venues including: The Cafe Royal, Quaglinos, The Emirates Stadium, The Royal Festival Hall Foyer, Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club, Jamie's Bar, and Mustard's Bistro. You can find a larger list of venues and a list of satisfied clients on my website. Besides performing at venues I also do quite a lot of parties, barbecues and functions at private homes. I am frequently booked as a wedding pianist and have been known to do up to five weddings a week. I am also available for any party, fashion show, trade show, party, civil partnership, corporate event, party, or any other special occasion. I am based in both Yorkshire and Surrey so access to anywhere in the UK is fairly easy. If you are looking for something a little different from the usual function band or DJ; then my jazz band might might be just the thing you are looking for.
