|BIG NIGHT OUT||Funk|
|Welcome to the full and funky sound of BIG NIGHT OUT; an eight piece outfit of funky musicians from Bristol. Drawing their influences from a wide range of music, primarily soul and funk, the band have been playing as BIG NIGHT OUT for 11 years but as individuals for as long as 30 years. From various different bands to current, BIG NIGHT OUT has seen recent changes where the band has introduced local professional session players of the highest quality. As a live act they bring an energy which is enhanced by a complete and full sound with huge emphasis on ?The Groove?. With a two hour live set comprising of a variety of influences such as Stevie Wonder, Tower of Power and James Brown, BIG NIGHT OUT have entertained festival crowds of 5000 plus, through to functions of 150. This variety of gig is successfully achieved by BIG NIGHT OUT because they pride themselves on being tight with a massive groove, worthy of filling the dance floor without being your ?typical? cabaret style function band.
Henry Ray on lead vocals provides the band with a perfect front-man; a powerful voice with an incredible range. Having been compared to James Brown and Terence Trent D?arby the Native American has huge talent that should not be missed. Henry Ray has been touring professionally with other bands 10 years previous to joining BIG NIGHT OUT and finally came to settle in England after completing a tour of Japan, he is now happy to play music for pleasure. Paul Marshall on Bass and James Hester on Drums provide a solid platform for the likes of Jon Ley on guitar, John-Paul Gard (nationally acclaimed B3 Hammond organ player) and of course Jon Ford on Saxophone, Nick Attwood on Trombone fresh from recording with Kasabian on their EMPIRE album and Andy Hague on Trumpet. Andy has made many appearances as a session musician including the albums by Portishead and their Live in New York video and appeared at festivals such as Edinburgh, Brecon & Glastonbury, this makes up a very powerful unit called The Flat Out Funk Horns.
